Sue Ellen's Blog
November 27, 2009: Yesterday was Thanksgiving Day, and we were blessed with a visit with a daughter and her family. Today I spoke with someone whose family also has gathered, but for a different reason. His father-in-law is in hospice care and is in his final days. My friend is saddened by this, but so grateful to Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care here in Sarasota. He couldn't begin to express what a difference hospice was making during this difficult time of saying goodbye to a family member.
November 11, 2009: If your spouse were to become sick or disabled or, God forbid, die tomorrow, how prepared are you to take over the money management? Do you know where the important papers are kept? Do you know what the important papers are? A friend of mine is going through this right now, and it really points up the importance of getting prepared NOW for that eventuality. How much better to learn all this when it's not a crisis situation. I know, it's really a bummer to contemplate the worst case, but ignoring it doesn't make it not happen. Think about it.
August 30, 2009: Where has the summer gone? Teresah and I have big plans for the shows coming up this fall. If you have suggestions for topics or guests, please let us know by sending email to seniormoves@comcast.net.
May 13, 2009: Okay, okay! So I've been neglecting my blog! It seemed like a good idea at the time! Anyway, we've done 6 shows so far on WTMY, and we're loving it. We've even had one call-in! And it was bona fide--not just someone we planted in the radio audience. We're getting great feedback from those who are listening. We just need to figure out how to let more people know that the show is here, and that it is really valuable and interesting. If you missed any of the past shows, you can catch them right here by selecting "Audio Archive."
May 16, 2009: If you listened to the show today, you know that we had no phone service for call-ins. The station was hit by lightning yesterday and the phones were knocked out. If you had questions for us about the program, you can send them to seniormoves@comcast.net, and we'll get back to you. If you missed the program, you can hear it by going to the "Audio Archive" section of this website.
March 31, 2009: Just a few more days until our first "live" broadcast! Exciting, a little scary and definitely the next thing to do. We've had a year of "practice" with a pre-recorded show, and we've learned a whole lot about editing and sound quality. What a relief now to have someone in the studio who can worry about all that technical stuff! Teresah and I can't wait to share our senior savvy with you!
