Here are the top ten things boomers should take care of now!
- See an attorney to draw up legal documents such as a will, living will, advanced medical directives.
- Choose someone to serve as your durable power of attorney.
- Write your personal story.
- Take care of your health: diet, exercise, and compile a health history.
- Get a baseline memory screening.
- Tour independent and assisted living facilities.
- Develop a financial plan. Actually develop a Plan A, a Plan B, and a Plan C--or more!
- Draw up plans of action for illness and/or disability for you or your spouse or partner. What will you do if one of you gets sick?
- Be selective about the "things" you accumulate, and start getting rid of things you don't use, need or love.
- Make a life to-do list, including all the things you've always wanted to do. And then start planning to do one of them.
